Responsible procurement practices
We expect our procurement partners to comply with our sustainability requirements (the code of conduct for suppliers) as procurement is an important part of our business’ sustainability. Through procurement, we can promote energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly solutions and technology.
High-quality, timely procurement that is appropriate for the needs is the objective of all our companies. Economic efficiency and security are important for us. The majority of our procurement contracts cover services and systems, and most of the suppliers are Finnish companies.
Some or our group companies are contracting entities, as specified in the Finnish Act on Public Procurement and Concession Contracts, and some are commercial operators. The contracting entities follow the Act on Public Procurement.
Our procurement processes are governed by the group’s procurement strategy, the general terms and conditions of contract, the Finnish Act on the Contractor’s Obligations and Liability when Work is Contracted Out, and good business practices. We can also place other requirements on the suppliers regarding, for example, their economic situation, professional qualification and energy-efficiency. If the procurement is covered by the Act on Public Procurement, we also apply the mandatory and discretionary exclusion criteria specified in the Act. During contract validity, we monitor compliance with the contract and, consequently, the supplier’s operations.
We require the key personnel of the winning parties of procurement tenders to complete a responsibility online training course – please contact vastuullisuus@erillisverkot.fi for that. We monitor the responsibility of key contractual partners with reports from an external supplier.
Public procurement notices are published in the HILMA service. We use an electronic procurement system in our public procurement. Our contracting entities also use framework agreements that are put out to tender by Hansel Oy.
